Where Strangers Travel to Become Friends

10 days isn’t a checklist. It’s an arc.

You’ll arrive a stranger to this soil. By the final night, you’ll have a Ghanaian name, a circle of new friends, and a story you didn’t have when you landed. Below is the full traveler journey — city to savannah, palace to coastline, fireside to dance floor — exactly as it’s lived.
Touchdown

Akwaaba! Welcome to Ghana.

Is this your first time on African soil? Soak it in — we’re confident it won’t be your last. We’ll meet you at baggage claim and take you to your accommodation by private transport. Get checked in, settle in, breathe.

Later: a welcome meet-and-greet. Your first meal together on African soil, with the small group of strangers you’re about to become friends with. Chat, laugh, get ready for what’s ahead.

City Tour

Accra

where the story begins

The best way to know a destination is to know its history. Start with a rich conversation with a historian and a private orientation created exclusively for you, then go discover what makes Accra the vibrant city it is — its world-famous landmarks, its traditional foods, its people, its hospitality.

In the evening, let’s make some friends. At a special O&A event, we bring together diverse, fun-loving locals who help make Accra what it is. Connect, share stories, celebrate the beauty.

Shai Hills

into the savannah

We head outside Accra to the Shai Hills Reserve, where nature conservation meets rich archaeological history. Climb aboard for a 4×4 game drive in search of zebras, baboons, antelope, bush-bucks, and more than 170 species of birds. Summit Mogo Hill for panoramic views across the Greater Accra savannah.

Dinner and the night follow at a serene retreat hemmed in by the Akosombo mountains, on the edge of Lake Volta — one of the largest man-made lakes in the world.

Dodi Island

story time, by the fire

A memorable voyage to Dodi Island, an 84-hectare island in the Eastern Region. Watch the mountains pass aboard the famous Dodi Princess II, groove to live music, and savor authentic Ghanaian cuisine on the water.

That evening — a quintessential Ghanaian tradition. What the forefathers did, cherished for thousands of years. The elders gather the tribe by the fireside. Excitement is in the air. It’s story time.

Torgome

you'll leave with a name

Prepare to be amazed by the depth and warmth of Ghanaian rural culture. You’ll visit Torgome, a village on the lower Volta, to see authentic everyday life in Ghana’s more remote corners. Meet the elders, take in a traditional drum and dance ceremony, and have the moment you’ll talk about for years: a naming ceremony, where you’re given a traditional African name of your own.

We cap the day with dinner in Accra, at one of the tallest buildings in the city, with breathtaking views.

Your Day

the best fun time is me time
We’ve built in time to sleep in, have downtime, and just be. Spend it however feels right — shopping, arts, the beach, a visit to a local entrepreneur, or simply resting before the road continues.

Kumasi

seat of the Ashanti Kingdom

Rise and fly to Kumasi, capital of the historic Ashanti Kingdom. Learn the legacies and legends of a kingdom dating to the 1700s, and visit the awe-inspiring palace and seat of the Asantehene, the Ashanti king.

Watch traditional Kente weaving, preserved for centuries, and meet the craftsmen behind adinkra symbols. Then see for yourself, on a cocoa farm, exactly where chocolate begins.

Cape Coast

orts, castles, the door of no return

We journey to Cape Coast. Witness the march enslaved people endured, and the significance of the river at Assin Manso. Visit Elmina and Cape Coast Castle — the last memory many enslaved people had of their homeland before being shipped across the Atlantic — and see the Door of No Return, believed to be the last threshold many ever crossed.

The evening is for decompressing, at the Big Blue Resort & Spa — a tranquil, private beachfront haven on the Atlantic.

Accra, Again

we've seen yesterday — what about tomorrow?

Take it easy. The day is yours, with a list of exciting options to choose from. We’ve seen Ghana’s yesterday — what about Ghana’s tomorrow? What economic forces are shaping the future of this burgeoning democracy, and who’s driving its success?

That evening, we bring together members of Ghana’s Tourism Authority, the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, Diaspora Affairs, and local entrepreneurs for a mixer, conversation, and dinner.

One Last Fire

Wo bƐ san aba biem

We come together one last time for a celebratory dinner at a beachfront restaurant and club. With floodlights shimmering across the ocean and jazzy tunes against crashing waves, we’ll reminisce on every moment shared — the places, the music, the dance, the food, the people, the language, the friends, the laughs.

Ghana has given you an amazing time. But this is an experience you’ve given yourself.

Departure

Saying goodbye is never easy.

You came as a stranger to this soil. You leave with a name, a circle, and a story that didn’t exist ten days ago. That’s not something Ghana gave you — it’s something you gave yourself.
